Loxie Kistler, Ed.D., M.S., B.S.N., RN has over 40 years in healthcare in the acute, long term and ambulatory care settings. Dr. Kistler holds a B.S.N. from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Science (Educational Leadership) from the University of Dayton and a Doctor of Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from the University of Cincinnati. Nearly 25 years of experience exists in treating stroke patients in the emergency and intensive care phase. The technological advances and evidence-based practice findings encouraged Dr. Kistler to recently serve as a Stroke Coordinator for several Florida hospitals. The position included care from the pre-hospital phase, through the emergent phase, post thrombolytic treatment, and post discharge care in the development of a stroke support group. As a certified medical assistant and certified health unit coordinator, Dr. Kistler has presented on a local, state and national level to allied health professionals on early recognition, treatment and post stroke care. As an American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Instructor for over 20 years, the latest research on stroke care was a vital part of the curriculum.
